STUDENT CONTRACT
1. Introduction – It is the student’s responsibility
to come to class prepared and be ready to learn. It is the teacher’s
responsibility to help the student acquire the skills necessary to pass
the class and to succeed in daily life and future academic endeavors.
The purpose of this contract is to outline some of the requirements –
on both sides – that will help make these goals happen.
2. Attendance – The student is expected to attend
class everyday. Excused absences must be verified, as by a doctor’s
or parent’s note. You are responsible for making up all work promptly
that you missed during the absence.
3. Cutting and lateness –Cutting a class in not
permitted under any circumstances. Lateness is not tolerated. Parents
will be notified and requested to come to school.
4. Participation – Every pupil is expected to contribute
to class discussion. Raise your hand whenever you wish to ask a question
or contribute to a discussion. Do not call out; respect other students’
opinion whether you agree with them or not. Your classroom participation
and your contribution in group work will determine part of your grade.
5. Projects / examinations – There will be several
projects in this class. Projects must be completed within the required
time. Points will be deducted for late work submitted after the dead line.
Projects will not be graded after the announced dead line. If you are
absent for any test, it is your responsibility to make arrangements to
take the test at a later date.
6. Computer lab routines – You will have an assigned
seat and computer. Enter the class quietly. Occupy your assigned seat.
Check the computer, mouse, keyboard and monitor. If anything is damaged,
immediately report to the teacher. If you do not report, you will be responsible
for any damages at the end of the class. You will be required to pay any
expenses to repair the damages. DO NOT change any settings on the computer.
7. Grading system
a. Quizzes, tests, projects 70%
b. Homework 15%
c. Class participation 15%
8. School Rules – All school rules will be strictly
enforced, including, but not limited to
a. NO food or drink of any kind in the classroom
b. NO electronics – radios, CD players, telephones, cameras, etc.
c. NO headgear of any sort
9. Computer lab ethics – Students are not to visit
web sites that cater to online chat, adult content, video games, sports,
online forums or any other non academic entity that can be accessed via
the Internet. Remember that your access can be revoked at any time if
you do not follow these guidelines.
Your task is to concentrate on the subject at hand – mastery of
the subject – and you must avoid distractions that prevent it from
happening.
