A Message from the Principal

Greetings, from the Medgar Evers College Preparatory School family. It is with great pleasure that I present our school website. All of us who have shared in the Medgar Evers College Preparatory School experience are very proud of this website. It contains carefully compiled resource information about our school.

Let me also take this opportunity to thank all the members of the Medgar Evers College Preparatory School family for their continued support of our school. I also want to encourage every one to visit this website as often as possible in order to stay informed about current and upcoming events.

Best Regards,

Dr. Michael A. Wiltshire
Principal

Medgar Evers College Preparatory School is an Empowerment school in the New York City Department of Education. In April 2006, Chancellor Klein invited principals to volunteer to turn their schools into Empowerment Schools. Hundreds applied, and in June, Mayor Bloomberg joined the Chancellor to invite about 330 schools to become Empowerment Schools.

Medgar Evers College Preparatory School’s (Middle College High School at Medgar Evers College) mission is to provide our diverse student population with a superlative college preparatory education. Our course of study includes co-curricular and extra-curricula activities, a supportive environment that recognizes individual learning styles and strengths. This will ultimately support self-development, self-esteem, instill intellectual curiosity; and develop a love for lifelong learning. This will provide the means for each individual to be active participants and contributors to their local and global communities.
Our goal is to provide students with enriched opportunities that will encourage them to pursue careers in Science, Mathematics, Engineering and Technology; areas in which minorities are overly under-represented. This cadre of young people will be prepared to face the ever-evolving challenges of the 21st century.

Advanced Placement Program 2007

In addition to excellent classroom experiences, Medgar Evers College Preparatory School offers support services for students through our PM tutoring sessions and our Saturday Academy.

Some courses have required work to be completed in the summer before the course meets. Students pick up these assignments from their teachers before they leave in June.
